Our newest elementary school, Elementary #11, will open to students for the 2022-23 school year. Here’s some initial information for the school’s future students, families and staff as we prepare to build our next school community.
How do I know if my child will attend Elementary #11?
The Richland School Board approved new elementary attendance boundaries in the fall of 2021 which will go into effect starting with the 2022-23 school year. View the boundary map. Notification letters were sent to the families of all current students who reside in Elementary #11’s attendance area in mid-January 2022. Families who will be enrolling their student or students for the first time in RSD for the 2022-23 school year will be assigned to Elementary #11 automatically if they live within the school’s attendance area.
Who will be leading the school?
Nicole Blake, currently the district’s Executive Director of Teaching, Learning & Curriculum, will be the school’s principal. Michelle Ladow, currently the administrative assistant at Hanford High School, will join Mrs. Blake as the school’s administrative assistant. The district is supporting them as they prepare to establish a full leadership team and begin hiring staff for the school.
How do I learn about what to expect in the fall when my child is attending, such as who their teacher will be or the school’s schedule?
The school’s leadership and staff will be working on details such as the school handbook and how the first days of learning at the school will look in the spring of 2022 and the district will launch a website for the school during that time. Questions about enrolling in the school may be sent to Lynne Wiskerchen in the district’s Student Services office at Lynne.Wiskerchen@rsd.edu. Other inquiries about the school may be sent to info@rsd.edu.
Will there be a naming process for the school?
Yes! The school’s leadership team, supported by district staff, will seek suggestions for the school’s name, mascot and colors beginning in the first half of 2022. Name recommendations will be reviewed by school and district leaders and presented to the Richland School Board for a decision. The school’s mascot and colors will be determined at the school level. Details about how the community can participate in this process will be shared shortly.
